Chief Rodney Aran(主任 ロドニー·アランShunin Rodonī Aran) was the father of Samus Aran, and the husband of Virginia Aran. During the attack of Ridley and his Space Pirates at K-2L, he shot the planet's Afloraltite with an automatic weapon, igniting it and causing a massive explosion, wiping out everything on the colony except the Chozo, Samus and Ridley. His story was told in the Metroid Manga, but he also appeared briefly in a Samus & Joey: Volume 2 flashback.
