This article is about the mountain range in the elves' world in "Coming Across." For the mountain range in the Atlantis series, see Green Ridge Mountains. The Green Mountains were a range in the world that the Artist had made. When a mysterious curse of painful weakness spread throughout the population of the elves, a thus-afflicted individual named Mafindel went to the range. There he began the custom of Leavetaking to end his suffering, by jumping from a cliff onto the rocks below. Over the next five and more years, numerous other tormented elves, Belionora and Lingol among them, chose to end their lives in the same way.
