Aleta Shabalala was the wife of Starfleet officer Joseph Shabalala. She had at least two children with Joseph: a son, Anthony, and a daughter. She was widowed when Joseph perished aboard the USS Odyssey in 2370. (DS9 - The Brave and the Bold, Book One novella: The Second Artifact) Although it has never been stated in any story, author Keith R.A. DeCandido has confirmed in an online forum that Anthony Shabalala of the SCE series is the son of Joseph Shabalala.
