The USS Enterprise NCC-1701, under the command of Captain James T. Kirk, visited the planet Amasis. Captain Kirk beamed down to the planet with a landing party, leaving Spock in command. The landing party began exploring the planet. As they were exploring, the landing party came under attack by a plant-like monster that was native to the planet. Sulu set his phaser to kill and fired on the monster. The monster was vaporized. The tricorder readings returned to normal. The landing party continued with their mission.
