Cherish's parents are two anime-only characters whose daughter is the mamodo In the Zatch Bell! manga, Cherish is an orphan, but in the anime her parents appear in a flashback had by Ted. After the mamodo collapses in front of their door, the two take him and treat him as if he were their son. They were killed by Zofis out of sheer malice, and Ted is framed for their deaths.
