The University of Portland (UP) is a private Catholic university located in Portland, Oregon. It is specifically affiliated with the Congregation of Holy Cross and is the sister school of the University of Notre Dame. Founded in 1901, UP has a student body of about 3,200 students. It is best known for its women's soccer program, which recently won the 2005 NCAA Women's Soccer Championship. UP is ranked 5th in the west for Universities-Master's by U.S. News and World Report. Students also participate in club level sports such as crew, water polo, golf, and bocce ball.
