Mees' lines are lines of pale white discoloration that appear in the nails of the fingers and toes that share a pattern with the growth of the nail. They are a common symptom of many types of heavy metal poisoning, including arsenic and thallium. They can also appear in patients with kidney failure and patients receiving chemotherapy.
