Debbie Norris was one of two schoolgirls who flirted with Steve McDonald in Jim's Cafe. The other was Susie Johnson who came on strong to Steve. As he was supposed to working at the time, Gail Tilsley tore a strip off him for not pulling his weight. Steve's flirting provoked the jealousy of Victoria Arden who had recently moved into the Rovers with her grandad Alec Gilroy after the death of her parents and who fancied Steve herself.
