Vekslina was drafted by the New Rotterdam Orange Sox in 1917, being taken 7th in the third round and being drafted 39th overall. After four years in the minor leagues, Vekslina would be named the 1921 Rookie Of the Year and would spend eight years with the Orange Sox before signing as a free agent with the Arkham Tigers. In 1930, Vekslina would sign a free agent contract with the Sydney Kangaroos, where he played for the next six years. In 1932, Vekslina hit for the cycle. Vekslina would finish his career with Melbourne before retiring in 1937.
