It is worth noting that non-humans such as Wookiees, Mon Calamari, Lurrians and Talz were 'actively discouraged' to participate in government or join the Imperial military because of the Galactic Empire's Human High Culture policy. In one of my stories, a group of Imperial officers violated the Empire's Human High Culture policy and recruited many Wookiees, Mon Calamari, Lurrians, and Talz to join their ranks so that they could help the Guardian Warriors stop King Galacticus from destroying the universes.
