Hurricane Gert was a hurricane of the 2048 Atlantic hurricane season. Forming on September 22 over the Bahamas, Gert slowly traveled north. By September 25, it was moving 25 mph and peaked. Gert started to weaken the next day and by September 27, it was over New York as a Category 1 hurricane. It then turned extra-tropical on September 28. By September 29, at 23:05 UTC, the storm was a ex-tropical low. It was absorbed into a nor'easter which caused the Whiteout of 2048.
