Peter Benjamin Parker was a teenager when he was bitten by a genetically-alterend spider by accident, while attending a scientific exposition at Oscorp. At first, he used his spider-like abilities for personal gaining, like competing in wrestling. He let a burglar get away, but the same burglar killed his Uncle Ben a few days later. Peter blamed himself for the murder and learned that "with great power comes great responsibility", a lesson his uncle always told him that would become his motto in his life as a superhero, using his abilities to help those in need.
