As Conan and company wait out the attack of a giant clay monster sent to destroy followers of Lord Pollus, a metal monster joins the fray, this one destroying followers of Lord Ludox. The two creatures turn on each other as the two lords and their respective enchanters watch from their towers. Meanwhile, Conan realizes that Andamo seeks a broken amulet as did a monk he encountered recently, but before he can do much he is captured by Ludox's men as Andamo escapes. He awakens bound and finds he would have been killed if not for the interference of the Pict Moru, who cuts Conan free. They come from underground to see the two monsttrosities still battling in a rapidly ruined city. Conan spies the amulet fragment on Lord Pollus's sorceress. Conan manages to lure the two beasts into ramming eac
