Nimue's Salamanders (Salamandra exhaurirus) are small newt-like lizards with distinct black, yellow and orange coloration that live in the southern Alps area of Europe. The only significant item on the salamanders are their ability to literally drain magical energy from any spells cast within the salamander's range. Theories abound on the how of this ability, and they are prized by megacorporations for security; but due to their dislike of even the most basic pollutants, and the lack of success in training the creatures, they are not in wide use at this time.
