| - Jesko Balta was a Jedi Knight from Alderaan during the Clone Wars. Unlike many Jedi, he was sarcastic, cynical, and prone to furious anger when provoked (after the destruction of Alderaan in 0 BBY, he had to be stunned and shackled to prevent him from charging to attack the nearest Imperial base). When Order 66 came down, he and his Padawan, Lara Haddon, were en route back to Coruscant aboard their shuttle, Thranta, from a short espionage mission to Kessel. They were about to rush back after receiving an emergency beacon call telling all Jedi to return to the temple on Coruscant when Jesko got a message, not from the Force, but from his own cynicism. Against Haddon's protests, he dropped out of hyperspace to scan Holovid news bulletins, one of which mentioned an attack on the Jedi Temple.

While they were hiding out on Dantooine and waiting for more information, Yoda and Obi-Wan Kenobi managed to sabotage the trap and send a new message, warning all surviving Jedi to go to ground. Without any further discussion, the pair went into hiding, traveling from system to system. They eventually settled for a time on Deralia, before eventually joining with Wayland's Wilders in their alliance with the New Republic, shortly before the reappearance of Grand Admiral Thrawn. Both Balta and Haddon had maintained their skill levels during the time, but each retained a knowledge of the Force and lightsaber skills that would enable them to contribute to the cause once their exile ended. Even more importantly, the pair tried to keep the Order alive in their own way, discovering a young Force-sensitive human named Asher Zelan and instructing him in the ways of the Jedi. Jesko Balta carried a dark blue lightsaber, was skilled in the Shien/Djem So form of lightsaber combat, and would use Force Blinding, Force Combustion and Force Repulse in battle. Following the establishment of a new Jedi Praxeum on Yavin IV, Balta made frequent visitations to the planet, serving under Master Skywalker as a guest lightsaber instructor and weapons master.
