In Christian demonology (Late Medieval- Early Modern European), Zaleos (also spelled Saleos, Sallos [Zaebos is a 19th century spelling of the name]) is a demon with the rank of Great Duke of Hell (some accounts say Great Earl), commanding 30 legions of demons. He appears as a handsome, gallant soldier wearing a ducal crown, riding a crocodile. He is relatively peaceful and can make men love certain women and women love certain men. Zaleos is 1 of 69 demons listed in the Pseudomonarchia Dæmonum and 1 of 72 listed in the Ars Goetia (the first section of the Lesser Key of Solomon).
