Steven Edward Carlson (born August 26, 1955) is a retired American ice hockey forward. Carlson was born in Virginia, Minnesota. He appeared in the movie Slap Shot as one of the Hanson Brothers. Carlson played in the World Hockey Association with the New England Whalers, Edmonton Oilers and Minnesota Fighting Saints and in the National Hockey League for the Los Angeles Kings, scoring nine goals for the Kings. While playing for the Edmonton Oilers in the WHA, he was the roommate of Wayne Gretzky during his rookie season. While playing for the Baltimore Skipjacks, one of his teammates was Ted Nolan, the past head coach of the New York Islanders.

But his consistency is awe-striking. For a period of sixteen years (1990-2005), Carlson never finished outside of the top-two in points, recording nine series titles and seven runner-up finishes. Currently, Carlson has moved onto the ASA Midwest Tour, the successor of the defunct NASCAR/ARTGO tour. In the three years of competition, Carlson has won seven times and finished 1st in the 2009 final standings, his first full-time season on the tour.
