  • Serena is blissfully happy - and trusting - in her relationship with Gabriel and even Lily approves of their relationship. Everything seems to be going well for the 'perfect' couple; Gabriel is from an old, rich, southern family and appears to be Serena's perfect fit. However, best-friend Blair is suspicious of Serena's new boyfriend and finds it strange that he seems to disappear at random times. Blair and Nate are also in a happy, comfortable relationship but Chuck won't leave Blair alone since he also loves her. This causes a rift between the best friends. Blair and Chuck follow Gabriel and see him with Poppy Lifton which confirms their suspicions. Yet Serena is determined to give Gabriel the benefit of the doubt. Unbeknownst to the rest of Serena's friends, Poppy and Gabriel have concocted a plan for Gabriel to seduce Serena and scam money from her family and friends, all of whom are investing in Gabriel's "company." The Ponzi scam even fools Rufus who is desperate for money to send Dan to Yale.
