The real reason for the Amyrlin's generosity is an attempt to identify the infant child who is also the Dragon Reborn, proclaimed as having just been born on the slopes of Dragonmount by Gitara Moroso. Careme refuses to get in line to receive the bounty as she holds a grudge against the White Tower. The man she wanted to marry ran off to be a Warder and left her to marry someone she didn't like quite as well. Moiraine takes down her name anyway, saying, "nevertheless, she will receive the bounty."
