Kirk's USS Enterprise had become involved in, the Battle of Augo. Dauntless, along with al-Burak, Speedwell, Lake Ponchartrain, Lake Onondoga, Kilimanjaro, Hemalat, San Diego and Marathon all departed shortly after the engagement, with the only loss being Danilov's Ortisei.
