Seeing him as a great potential ally he is met by the sorcerer Rothbart, a man who similarly had a vendetta against a king he sought to depose, who wants to see him prove himself by overthrowing Arthur and getting his hands on the Excalibur. Rothbart gives him some aid, by helping him get a potion that could bond flesh with metal in order to create super soldiers.

Seeing him as a great potential ally he is met by the sorcerer Rothbart, a man who similarly had a vendetta against a king he sought to depose, who wants to see him prove himself by overthrowing Arthur and getting his hands on the Excalibur. Rothbart gives him some aid, by helping him get a potion that could bond flesh with metal in order to create super soldiers. Ruber is ultimately defeated in battle by the heroes when they trick him into plunging the sword now fused to his hand into the stone from whence it came, leading to a powerful surge of energy destroying him. Though disappointed, Rothbart does manage to get away with Kayley as his prisoner as he had discovered that she was one of his dimension's Princesses of Heart.
