  • Master Altasren Eltinwe was an Usil Elf wizard resident in the City of Spur. His sister was the San Elf wizard Kyshraelle (Kyshra) Sorrowfell. Master Altasren was the founder and first Archmage of the Order of the Crystal Star, the great mages' guild of the City of Spur in his day, as well as founder and first editor of the Dragon Fire Chronicle, Spur's longtime newsletter. His greatest feats included slaying the Muatana-al assassin Rupert, the murderer of Shieldmaster Vladimir, sending his evil to the Oversoul. For this feat, he won the great Staff of Rhedryn, a wizard's staff wrought of solid fire opal, which had the gift of resurrecting the dead, which he bore to the end. Among Master Altasren's many other accomplishments, he was a notable author and bard, winning an unprecedented (and unequalled) nine consecutive city Bardic Championships before retiring from competition. Further, after apprenticing with the offworlder sorceress Marguerida, he was named the second Keeper of NeaSuth after the Lady Marguerida's disappearance. Master Altasren was known to be a faithful follower of Rinanni. He had one brief marriage, which ended in annulment.
