Durhang was an opiate. The term came from the Seven Cities (Bisbrha and Debrahl) language. The hashish-like drug was smoked or consumed in tea. It was stored in form described as a black button. It caused a user to experience diminished capabilities, chronic ennui, and ravenous hunger. During the day users existed in a numb, dreamlike state while at night they could not achieve the deep and restful sleep required for good health.
