After two internal wars, and three different bosses, Carmine Persico became the Colombo boss in the early 1970s. Both Alphonse and Teddy were recognized as "made men" or full members, of the family under boss Joe Profaci and Joseph Colombo. By 1973, with Carmine's increased role in the family, both Teddy and Alphonse had become caporegimes, leading their own crews. In the early 1980s, Teddy became involved in a variety of criminal operations, including racketeering, loansharking, extortion, illegal gambling, money laundering and hijacking. Teddy would eventually be indicted on conspiracy and illegal gambling charges. In 1986, Carmine was sentenced to life in prison in the famous Mafia Commission Trial and has continued the rule the Colombo family through a succession of Acting Bosses and Ruling Panels. Teddy Persico had been the capo of a crew in Brooklyn since the 1970s and from 1993–1994, served on a Ruling Panel formed by himself and capos Joseph Tomassello and Joseph Baudanza which was disbanded after his arrest and conviction and "Andy Mush" Andrew Russo became acting boss. Teddy is the father of Daniel, Frank, Sean and Theodore Persico Jr., all members of the Colombo crime family. Persico was released from prison in 2013.
