It is programmed by MTV, a subsidiary of Viacom Media Networks, which also developed a prior television programming block seen on Nickelodeon: Snick (which later became a block on MTVNick in 2012). The name comes from the two names of the main channels that are featured on the network, MTV (the channel's programmer) and Nickelodeon (shares channel space with). The channel debuted at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time on July 1, 1985, under the name Nick at Nite, as a block. Its original programming consisted of older TV shows from around the 60s time period. On January 23, 2017, Nick at Nite was given into the hands of MTV by its original programmer, Nickelodeon. When the channel was given to MTV, they were not allowed to use the old name or the old logo, so they changed the name to MTVNick, which is the name today. The channel has an appearance similar to MTV, except unlike MTV, it uses only 3 colors: white, dark gray, and hot pink. The logo design has the MTV logo and the Nick logo side by side, with an opaque black line separating the two. The network consists nowadays of mostly, but not only, syndicated programming, mainly from Adult Swim & Fox. These shows include, but are not limited to, Rick and Morty, Bob's Burgers, Robot Chicken, King of the Hill, Regular Show, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Hey Arnold!, Full House (9PM and 7AM only), and Modern Family. Some examples of original programming include, but once again is not limited to, Kick-Ass: The TV Show, The Brandon Rogers Show, D*ck Figures, and Happy Tree Friends. MTVNick has programming geared towards two different audiences: Snick has programming for teenagers, and generic MTVNick contains content for older audiences. MTVNick is known for taking online personalities/series and making them into TV shows and/or original movies. The two most notable being The Brandon Rogers Show and D*ck Figures. The significance behind this is that most other TV networks, such as Nickelodeon, attempt to do the same yet come out unsuccessful, but MTVNick has always had good reviews on all of its internet star-based TV shows. For example, The Brandon Rogers Show is rated #3, only behind Bob's Burgers and D*ck Figures, which is another internet-based show.\
