In his brief eleven-race Sprint Cup Series career, Soares scored one victory and five top-ten finishes. Soares' debut came during the 1951 season, when he competed at Oakland. It was an impressive start for the driver, coming out of the field of thirty-two with a 9th place run. Soares' next nine starts all came during the 1954 season, when he finished 16th in points. Soares got off to a running start, finishing 3rd in his return to Oakland. He immediately followed that up with his only career victory, leading 211 of the 496 laps to win at Gardena. After that, though, Soares' results became mixed. He would only crack the top-ten twice more during the year after three DNFs: an 8th at Corbin and a 6th in the prestigious Southern 500 at Darlington. Soares' final career race took place the following year, competing in a 1955 race at Phoenix. Starting 18th in the field of twenty-nine, Soares fell quite a few laps down in route to a midpack 20th place showing. Soares died of complications from pneumonia in Versailles, Ohio.
