South Lake Tahoe is a city located in Sierra Nevada mountains in El Dorado County, California. The city is located along the California-Nevada border just south of the "elbow". The city had a population of 21,403 as of the 2010 US Census. The city is located on the opposite side of Lake Tahoe from Squaw Valley which hosted the 1960 Winter Olympics.
