| - Al Self is a former NASCAR driver from Venice, CA. He competed in five Sprint Cup Series events in his career, earning one top-ten. Self's debut came in 1960, when he competed at Hanford. Starting 25th in the field of thirty-three, Self completed most of the race and drove his way to a career-best 10th place finish. He wasn't too shabby at Sacramento either, starting last (23rd) but driving to a 13th place finish. Self's next race waited until the 1963 season, when he made his first start at Riverside. Starting 37th in the field of forty-one, Self lasted just one lap before an engine issue left him 39th. Self tried again to run well at Riverside in his lone 1964 start, but once again struggled. In the field of forty-four, Self started and finished 43rd after another engine let go very early in the event. Self's final career race came in 1965, when the driver again competed at Riverside. He also again faced major engine issues, losing an engine just forty-nine laps in and finishing in 26th.
