This, coupled with a drought that had led to a bad year of tithe for Igen Weyr, prompted V'lon to grudgingly accept D'gan's suggestion that they abandon Igen Weyr and merge with Telgar Weyr, meaning the old Weyrleader became just another bronze rider. V'lon most likely died some time before the Third Pass, as D'gan refers to him in the past tense.
