Desert Valley was a region of Malastare that was, as its name implied, a desert. The terrain was uneven and chaotic, and many networks of channels and valleys, with mountains and plateaus, scattered across the area. This was a popular location for podracing for centuries. The badland was created by bursting glaciers at the peaks of nearby mountains, which caused the area to be desert. A race of Dugs in 3,000 BBY created a settlement in the very middle of the valley, inside a gigantic geologically-formed cave. The settlement was adopted by the Jedi millennia later and renamed Desert Fortress.
