The RG1200 was the first modern (i.e. post-1987) RG model to have a four digit model number. A four digit model number later became a common signature of the upscale Prestige line, which was introduced in 1996. It was among the first RG models to sport the sculpted all access neck joint, which has since become a standard feature for guitars in the series. The RG1200 was offered only in the USA and was discontinued after just one year. It is considered by some as the progenitor of the Prestige line. Specifications for RG1200 (1992)

  • The RG1200 was the first modern (i.e. post-1987) RG model to have a four digit model number. A four digit model number later became a common signature of the upscale Prestige line, which was introduced in 1996. The RG1200 features a basswood body with a flamed maple top bolted to a quartersawn maple neck with a 24-fret bound rosewood fingerboard with abalone oval position markers. Components include a pair of white DiMarzio humbuckers flanking a white DiMarzio-made IBZ/USA single coil pickup which are all mounted in a white pearloid pickguard, a Lo-Pro Edge double locking tremolo bridge with a locking nut and Gotoh tuning machines. It was among the first RG models to sport the sculpted all access neck joint, which has since become a standard feature for guitars in the series. The RG1200 was offered only in the USA and was discontinued after just one year. It is considered by some as the progenitor of the Prestige line.
