A major of the Ustashi oversaw the arrest of the Serb guerilla chieftain Bogdan in 1979 with the help of British agents George Smith and Peter Drinkwater. Smith thought that the major had a face cut out of a fascist training film. He spoke excellent English. The major's gratitude to the two British agents was perfunctory at best, as both the British and the major knew that their next meeting might see them trying to kill each other. He concluded their encounter by telling them he could believe that God wanted Croatia to cooperate with "degenerates" like the British.
