An upgraded sequel, Lord of Vermilion Re:2, was released in July 2011, continuing its card numbering where Lord of Vermilion II left off. Final Fantasy IX, BlazBlue, The King of Fighters, Persona 3, Persona 4 and Touhou Project characters appear as summonable special guest allies. The 2012 anime incarnation of huke's Black Rock Shooter also makes an appearance in Re:2.
