- Los lagos, lagunas o meandros (no confundir con estanques), son zonas de agua dulce situadas en el curso del río. En Animal Crossing: Wild World, se le conoce como lago o estanque, este último por el hecho de que podían aparecer zapateros allí, pero no deja de ser igual de grande. En Animal Crossing: City Folk/Let's Go to the City, encontramos por primera vez el nombre laguna al indicar la posición concreta de un pez en el río (tales como el Pirarucú, Pez Caimán, Cabeza de Serpiente, etc.). Cerca de las lagunas suelen haber luciérnagas (recordamos que sólo aparecen en el mes de Junio), que sueltan destellos amarillos que dan una vista fabulosa al lago.

- Laguna was originally inhabited by the Kumeyaay (also called Diegueño), Luiseño, Cupeño, and Cahuilla Indians who lived in the area for more than 10,000 years. The first European to arrive and explore the province was Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo, a Portuguese explorer commissioned by Spain in 1542. Docking in San Diego Bay, he claimed the area for Spain whose exploration was followed up by Sebastián Vizcaíno in 1602. The first European settlement of Laguna was the establishment of the San Diego Presidio and Mission San Diego de Alcalá by Spaniards in 1769.
