Lamoureux played for several minor pro teams until he retired for the first time in 1953. He made a two season comebakc in 1955 and after played a few games for the Cleveland Barons in 1959-60. He was a player-coach of the Shawinigan Falls Cataractes from 1948–1950 and of the Indianapolis Chiefs in 1955-56. Lamoureux also coached the 1950-51 and 1951-52 Charlottetown Islanders of the Maritime Major Hockey League guiding the Islanders to regular season and playoff title honours in 1950-51. In the NHL he played in 235 games, scoring 19 goals and 79 assists. The Leo P. Lamoureux Memorial Trophy is named after him.
