The Cretaceous Period was a period of the Mesozoic Era of Earth's distant past. This was part of Earth's Prehistory, in which there were no written records. There were also many creatures on the planet at this time that are now extinct, such as the Pteranodon, Triceratops, Anatosaurus, and Tyrannosaurus Rex. Jack and Annie visited this time once in Dinosaurs Before Dark. This was both the first and oldest time period Jack and Annie ever visited.

  • Trans-Time Corporation hunted dinosaurs in the Cretaceous Period and beamed their flesh roughly 65 million years into the future. It was also referred to as Time Zone Alpha-8.
  • On October 26, 1985, Doc Brown and Marty McFly traveled to October 21, 2015. The elderly Biff Tannen stole the DeLorean time machine with the intention of giving his younger self a Grays Sports Almanac to make himself rich. He didn't know how to work the DeLorean, so he hit the time circuits with his cane. Once he reached 88 m.p.h., he was sent to the Cretaceous Period. The Mr. Fusion was empty, so he tried to find some organic material to fuel it. A baby velociraptor stole the Blast from the Past bag with the almanac in it. Biff killed the dinosaur by hitting it in the head with his cane, and used the dinosaur's body to fuel the Mr. Fusion. He then headed to November 12, 1955.
  • The Cretaceous Period was the last period of the Mesozoic era. Huge and diverse creatures began to evolve. At the begining, creatures were much like that of the last period, the Jurassic Period. But soon things began to change. Animals, such as the Stegosaurs began to become much more rare. More andvanced species appered. Snakes and turtles really started looking like they look like today. Life was at it's fullest. But around 80 million years ago things started to change. Events like extreme climates and poisoned air by volcanic activity started to deminish the number of species of certain animals including dinosaurs. On May 2, 1991, Biff Tannen stole a DeLorean time machine from the Institute of Future Technology and traveled into the future to October 25, 2015. Doc Brown used a sub-ether time-tracking scanner which allowed him to pilot an 8-passenger DeLorean time machine full of time travel volunteers to bump Biff's DeLorean to bring him back. However, Biff avoided them by traveling to October 25, 1000000 B.C., followed by October 25, 64000000 B.C.. In the latter, his DeLorean was hit by a Tyrannosaurus and stalled. Doc piloted the 8-passenger DeLorean to bump the stalled DeLorean, bringing both time machines back to 1991. Doc Brown, Jules Brown and Verne Brown traveled to 3000000 B.C. to test the Proprietary Ultrasonic Subatomic Molecular Redistributor. Although this year would normally be in the Pleistocene era, in this timeline, this year was said to be in the Cretaceous period.

Shortly afterwards, all non-avian dinosaurs vanished, along with pterosaurs, plesiosaurs, moasosaurs, and some reptiles and birds. These events were called the Cretaceous Extiction and ended this period. File:Torosaurus BW.jpg
