The first time you write a piece of software things tend to go quite well. If you are in a company and they want a new application implementing the initial version can be good fun. For a version or two development can be straight forward but as the application ages and the requirements change things can become more difficult. This initial phase of an application I call the software honeymoon. As time goes on though it's difficult to maintain the feeling of the honeymoon. * How does refactoring help in making the honeymoon last?
