Shigenaga's extreme hedonism is and has always been one of his most defining traits to me - and it felt natural for me to push it in this particular direction, he's unethical and, due to his conflicted personality and lonely upbringing, It felt natural to me that he sought recluse in his desire. While in his younger years, it was probably a means to show his grandmother that someone wanted him; as the years went by and he grew increasingly embittered and cynical, I believe this trait of his became more pronounced; until it eventually reached the point it is today. Anti-Hero: Shigenaga is by no means a convnentional main character, or hero in any way; in fact, short of being aligned with Soul Society he himself has no qualities whatsoever that would even remotely suggest it. He's callous, ruthless, self-absorbed, vain, petty, greedy, cruel, promiscous, insensitive, manipulative, scheming, ambitious, cold, disdainful, arrogant, prideful and conceited! While even in the earliest stages of his development, Shigenaga was intended to be an Anti-Hero; by the end of it, he had turned into a Type V - and was willing to go to extreme lengths to fulfill his goals, far exceeding what the "vanilla Shige" would've been willing to do. Dark and Troubled Past: Deal With the Devil: Shigenaga did this quite literally, just that he made pacts with several devils and unlike most relevant deals, he was the one who came out on top.
