In Wizardry, a character can be created with a Neutral alignment. Neutral characters can party with either Good or Evil members. Neutral characters are restricted to very few classes, and since in Wiz I, II, III, and V, they never change alignment, an Evil thief can refuse a few peaceful monster encounters and become Good, and eligible for the Lord class, while a Neutral thief will never be eligible for Good or Evil only classes.
