Hilyard was a trainee of the Provost's Guard and began his year as a Puppy on April 1, 246 HE together with Rebakah Cooper. However he quit the Guard a month later after the death of their fellow Puppy Verene. At Verene's funeral he behaved disrespectfully, wearing a cityman's clothes and talking rudely. Lord Gershom threw him personally out of the Guard's burial grounds. He only appears as a minor character in Terrier.
