Bernard Cuthbert Taylor was a Third Class steward of the Titanic. He died in the sinking. Bernard Taylor was born in Arundel, Sussex, England in early 1890. He was the son of Henry Walmsley Taylor (b. 1844) and Mary Budd (b. 1856). When he signed-on to the Titanic, on 4 April 1912, Bernard gave his address as 5 Oxford Street, (Southampton), a boarding address. His last ship had been the Olympic. As a third class steward he received monthly wages of £3, 15s. His father later died in 1929 and his mother in 1933.

abstract	Bernard Cuthbert Taylor was a Third Class steward of the Titanic. He died in the sinking. Bernard Taylor was born in Arundel, Sussex, England in early 1890. He was the son of Henry Walmsley Taylor (b. 1844) and Mary Budd (b. 1856). His father, a domestic gardener, was a native of Sedgley, Worcestershire and his mother from Boxgrove, Sussex. They had married in Sussex on 6 July 1874 and went on to have eleven children, nine of whom survived infancy. Bernard's known siblings were: Jane Eliza (b. 1876), Archibald (b. 1877), Elizabeth (b. 1879), Philip Thomas John (b. 1882), Marie Louise (b. 1884), Bruno Henry (b. 1886), Henry Vincent Walmsley (b. 1888), Dorothy Josephine (b. 1892) and Timothy Harold Walmsley(b. 1896). The family appear to have moved around different addresses in Sussex frequently, ranging from homes in Worthing, Waringcamp, and Arundel but would make the latter their home. When Bernard first appears on the 1891 census he and his family are living at 16 Bond Street in Arundel and he would live at the same address for the rest of his life, appearing here again on the 1901 census and by proxy on the 1911 census when he was absent and apparently already at sea. When he signed-on to the Titanic, on 4 April 1912, Bernard gave his address as 5 Oxford Street, (Southampton), a boarding address. His last ship had been the Olympic. As a third class steward he received monthly wages of £3, 15s. Taylor died in the sinking. His body, if recovered, was never identified. His death is commemorated with a brass plaque in Arundel Pro Cathedral, Sussex. His father later died in 1929 and his mother in 1933.
