After the establishment of the Romulan Neutral Zone by the treaty on Stardate 1/0909.10, Dannon's political aspirations were destroyed by the negotiations when his opponents claim that as chief negotiator he had given away too much of the disputed area to the Romulans. By Stardate 1/1303.21 at the age of 59, Dannon was assassinated by a spectator at a political party where he was scheduled to speak. Though he was considered a controversial and even despised figure in his own time, his contributions led him to be revered for his actions in the pursuit of peace. The Terran civilian decoration for peace called The Dannon Prize was named in his honor. (FASA RPG module: The Romulans) In the FASA RPG continuity, the Romulan War was between the UFP and the Romulans. Though it's not stated, it's presumed that Dannon was a Human. In the light of the canonical version, it is likely that, since the Federation did not exist at the time of the Earth-Romulan War, that Dannon either represented Earth in the Coalition of Planets or possibly the Earth Alliance or perhaps the United Earth government.
