Sergeant Eddie Collins who died on 5 September 2007, was an SAS soldier. Described as "warrior" and "a champion soldier" by his Commanding Officer, the former paratrooper reportedly sustained a gunshot wound to the head during a "hard arrest" raid to capture a senior Al-Qaeda in Iraq (AQI) leader in Baghdad. He was the 169th British soldier to be killed in operations in Iraq. Sgt Collins was born in at Pembrokeshire, Wales. Married with a family, he was a member of the 2nd Battalion, Parachute Regiment before eventually joining the SAS.
