Claudine decieves Clouseau, proving herself to be involved. In the end she reveals to Sir Charles that she stole the diamond for a bit of fun. Colonel Sharki is going to kill them both and take the diamond but Dreyfus kills him trying to kill Clouseau. The Lyttons presumably were not arrested for the theft, and Sir Charles returns a few films later, now married to his old love interest Simone Clouseau.
