Dear Diary, This is Ramone Cochlear. I have recently been named a revolutionary leader of the Peruvian revolution. Although it has taken us a little longer than most of the Latin American nations to begin our fight for independence from Spain, we believe that this was the proper choice. Especially because the Latin American independence movement is being put into action while Napolean's invasion of Spain disarrayed Spanish authority. We have decided that we have had enough of this nonsense. These unfair rules by the Spanish has pushed us over the edge. They have continuously increased our taxes, reorganized our government, and replaced our officials. This is ridiculous and has gone on long enough. • Dear Diary, This is Ramone Cochlear. I personally have been watching nearby countries over the past few years, and many of them have had successful revolutions. Both the American Revolution and the French Revolution were able to achieve their goal and managed to free themselves. Some nearby countries have fought to separate themselves from Spain and have recently succeeded. All of these aspects have given me hope and faith to lead my beloved country of Peru through a revolution to be remembered. Dear Diary, Today I rounded up my troops and began to prepare. I assembled both black and mixed-race soldiers to help me achieve liberty for Peru. At the cost of a revolution I must gather whatever strength I can. I teamed up with Jose de San Martin, a Argentinian revolutionary. At this point, my army is starting to raise suspicion and hopefully it will enforce fear in our enemies. I will show them that we, together with many other Peruvian troops we will be able to overtake the Spanish rule and revise the wrong that has been done; however, I'm also starting to consider the impact on everyone else around me. I know this is the right choice, but what will be the cost?
