| - Talba, officially the Republic of Talba, is a sovereign state comprising of an archipelago surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea. Talba has remained independent ever since the fall of the Fatmid Caliphate in 1088. It has successfully repelled many invasions and sieges endured over countless wars. Formerly a kingdom, it became a republic after 1827. Since the end of the Second World War, it has adopted a policy of neutrality while developing an extremely liberalized economy characterized by privatization of nearly all public services. It joined the European Union in 2010 and the eurozone in 2014. A frequent destination for tourists, it receives over a million visitors every year which help power its unique economy. While being a predominately Catholic country, its culture retains elements imprinted on it during its time under the Fatmid caliphate, most notably the national language, Talban, which shares co-official status with English. At around 1,500 sq km, it is one of the smallest countries in Europe.
