  • A Dragon and Secian pair who have gone through the process of staging together are considered 'bondmates,' but the meaning of the relationship is so very deep that it absolutely defies explanation -- even a bonded pair would be hard pressed to define the amazing experience that is the Bond. Though very different in nature, Dragons and Secians are mutually drawn to one another, each race the other's protector. When a Draco is close to its next stage of life, it will seek out a Secian as its chosen, to see it through the excrutiating metamorphosis that is Becoming Winged. It is here that the Bond is formed, and the chosen relationship becomes so intense that some say the Dragon and Secian share the same soul. Once the Bond is formed, it cannot be broken through any means other than the permanent death of one of the parties. Some say that the lengthy separation of the pair at a vast distance can also cause the Bond to fade, though currently no Spurian Drakes who have taken on new chosens since the disappearance of their Bond have rebonded, so as of yet, that theory has not been put to the test.
