Introduced in 95 BBY, the ND-series nanny droid took several decades to be accepted, but eventually became a standard in most households with children. The first Confederate droid specifically built and programmed for the care of children, the ND-series droids were covered with synthflesh, which mimicked the mother's scent and warmth. The droid also contained an internal reservoir that could hold milk. Optionally, the ND-series could be equipped with weaponry to defend their charges if the need should arise, though Confederate law enforcement tended to frown upon this.
