| - Mace Windu was a prominent Jedi Master during the final years of the Republic. A Korunnai Human from Haruun Kal, Windu served as one of the last members of the Jedi High Council before the Great Jedi Purge. On the Council, Windu was often regarded as second only to Grand Master: Yoda, though the Human was eight centuries Yoda's junior. Windu's wisdom and power were legendary, as were the weight of his words. Widely considered one of the best swordsmen in the Jedi Order, Windu created Vaapad, the modern seventh form of lightsaber combat. In his day, Mace was one of the best lightsaber fighters of the Jedi order. It was said only two opponents ever bested him -- Yoda, and Dooku.

Mace Windu served the Jedi Order his entire life, training numerous Jedi. He continued to serve the Republic throughout the Clone Wars, often on the frontlines of fierce fighting. In the final years of the war, Windu confronted Darth Sidious, but was betrayed by Anakin Skywalker and was nearly subsequently killed by Sidious; falling out the window of Sidious's office, but was rescued by the legendary Jedi Sage: Jiraiya Uzukariya, who used Force Teleportation to transport the two of them to Kamino. Jiraiya then used Force Rejuvenate on Windu, as he was near-death. He then left Windu in the hands of Taun We before returning back to Koshi. A week after his duel with Sidious/Palpatine, Windu had sucessfully recovered enough, where he underwent a surgical procedure into installing a Prosthetic right arm on his right arm, much like Anakin prior to his fall. Windu, along with several surviving Jedi joined the Clone Rebellion, with CC-3530 Gohan as its leader. Windu's supposed death marked the beginning of the Great Jedi Purge.
