The large rivers and lakes provide a great deal of fish and fertile soil, although most building materials have to be imported. Unfortunately, due to its lack of natural barriers, Goldfield was possibly one of the worst affected areas of the Broadwing destruction in Centrafeld, having most of its villages and towns razed to the ground. Famously, one of the suspected birthplaces of the legendary folk hero Gideon Lockhardt is found in Goldfield in the village of Goodberry, some going so far as to make pilgrimages to the town to witness the charred stone foundation that was supposedly his original home.
